TRAIN TRESTLE, ELKIN NC, SURRY COUNTY

This trestle is on Front Street in Elkin NC. It crosses over the Elkin River. A lot of photography is shot on this trestle because it makes a good prop.

GRAYSTONE INN, ROARING GAP NC, ALLEGHANY COUNTY

At Roaring Gap NC in Alleghany County is an old Inn called the Graystone Inn. It was built sometime around 1926 and is at The Roaring Gap Club. It is now rented out as apartments.

OLD HOMEPLACE, JONESVILLE NC, YADKIN COUNTY

I have passed by this place many times wanting to take a picture because it is the ultimate home place where people grew up on tobacco farms. Yadkin County was full of tobacco farms feeding RJ Reynolds in Winston Salem in the next county. Now most of the tobacco is imported. I grew up doing this as a lad, where else to buy gas money and keep up a car.

STONE MOUNTAIN STATE PARK NC, WILKES AND ALLEGHANY COUNTY

Stone Mountain State Park in North Carolina is in Wilkes and Alleghany Counties. It rises about 600 feet out from the surrounding land and is at 2,305 feet above sea level. It is a great place to go camping, and hiking and to see a lot of deer.

OLD SHELL GAS STATION, Circa 1930, WINSTON SALEM NC,

This unique old Shell Gas Station is in Winston Salem NC in Forsyth County. It is at the corner of Sprague and Peachtree Streets.It has been restored by a group call Preservation North Carolina. It was built around 1930. I was doing a photo shoot of some of the downtown Winston Salem landmarks and have also wanted to find and shoot this landmark and with the technology of my Iphone located the coordinates and drove right to it.
